Russian Verb Drills

MEET THE RUSSIAN VERB DRILLS COURSE

The Russian Verb Drills course is designed to help you memorize different verb forms, their correct pronunciations and, most importantly, to gain speed when it comes to speaking Russian with the help of unique Russian verb conjugation AUDIO DRILLS.

You´ll be drilling (orally!) on the 20 most popular Russian verbs in both aspects and three tenses until the correct verb form comes naturally to you, without even thinking.

By the end of the course, you will have finally memorized different verb forms and gained speed when it comes to saying them, so that speaking Russian becomes less stressful and much more pleasant.  You will be able to get rid of those awkward pauses while you try to remember the correct verb form when you speak Russian.

No other tool has proven as useful to my students in mastering Russian verbs as audio drills have been.

PRACTICE VERB CONJUGATIONS OUT OF ORDER

A regular textbook teaches you verb conjugations in order, from я to они. For example: я делаю, ты делаешь, он делает, etc. At the end, you learn the list as a whole by rote! And when you speak and need to remember the verb form for мы or они, you have to go through the whole list.

This course offers a totally different approach, as you´ll be learning verb conjugations out of order. Each drill includes the quiz part where I say a pronoun at random, pause briefly to give you a few seconds to respond, and then I say the appropriate verb conjugation, and you repeat the whole phrase after me.

Your very own deck of audio flashcards!

Instead of relying on rote memorization, Russian Verb Drills will help you acquire a reflex in picking the correct verb forms. Through effective out of order repetition exercises, you will learn to choose the correct verb forms naturally.

I think the audio drill system is very powerful and useful. It has helped me remember the correct forms much more rapidly and say them better than I ever have before. It was really worth the money! Learning pairs of verbs was also helpful because that’s how you ought to remember them in general anyway.

Mark Allen, USA

I’m about half-way through the course. I “knew” all the verb forms before I got started but I couldn’t just pull them out of the air automatically and my pronunciation was truly awful. I’m being disciplined about doing each verb completely and repeating tenses I stumble on., so it’s taking me a while, but the time and the effort are absolutely worth it. I love it when I’m distracted doing a verb form but the right word comes out anyway. That means it’s working!

HOW CAN AUDIO VERB DRILLS
HELP YOU IMPROVE YOUR RUSSIAN?

Gain speed and automation, build reflexes
You´ll gain speed when it comes to speaking Russian. The correct verb forms will start popping into your mind fast, without thinking. Forget about those long pauses when you were trying to remember the right verb form! Repetition exercises will build your reflexes and help you develop an instinct to select the correct verb form fast, without hesitations.
Improve pronunciation
Spoken and written Russian are very different! If you really want to master Russian verbs, you have to learn their forms with the correct pronunciation. Using audio drills, you’ll be saying verb forms out loud with the correct pronunciation so many times that it will become natural for you to pronounce them the right way.
When you learn to conjugate 1 verb, you master many other verbs
Many verbs in the Russian language are formed by adding a prefix to them. Sometimes, there are as many as 15 new verbs that you can form! And all those newly formed verbs conjugate the similar way as the original verb. So, when you drill on one verb, you’re learning to conjugate all the other verbs that were formed by adding prefixes to that verb.
A better understanding of how the Russian verb system works
Conjugation drills give you an overview of the whole verb system. You develop an understanding of how the different moods and tenses relate to each other and start feeling the conjugation patterns. It´s pretty fascinating!

Kristina’s Russian Verb Drills course is highly effective. There is a lot of material out there on the internet, but this course really helped me. I’m the type of learner that really benefits from listening to varied and repeated audio – it helps me memorize and the new words become second nature. Listening to a native speaker is great because you can hear and repeat the correct pronunciation of the verbs right away, and avoid memorizing incorrectly. The charts and supplemental materials also help me understand and absorb all the new verb forms to see it laid out clearly.

Joseph Castellano, USA

This course provided rigorously precise and complete drill material for my ears alone, eyes alone, or ears and eyes together, and structured it modularly, so that I can proceed on as much material as I want to or can learn at any one time, and since there is no closure, I can re-attack or review the material further any time hereafter. The printouts and recordings are of the highest quality.

HOW AUDIO DRILLS ARE DIFFERENT FROM
OLD BORING REGULAR DRILLS

While the idea of verb drills is not new, it’s not common to see audio drills.

There are many excellent books offering exercises on verb drills, but these are writing exercises! They do help you to drill on verb forms and to remember the right endings, but they are not that useful in helping you with pronunciation and, the most important aspect when it comes to speaking, the speed in remembering and saying them.

With the help of audio drills, you´ll be learning the conjugation of verbs with their correct pronunciation and gaining the speed in remembering and saying them, all at the same time.

Effective repetition exercises will help you to develop an instinct for choosing the correct verb form, and you´ll be learning Russian verbs and practicing tenses without memorizing anything.

WHY AUDIO DRILLS IS THE BEST TOOL
FOR INTERMEDIATE LEARNERS

Let me guess! If you are an intermediate learner, you already have a good understanding of Russian grammar: you know how the Russian verb system works, the conjugation rules, most of the verb endings, when to use different aspects, etc.

Your main problem is to remember all those conjugation rules and endings when you actually speak Russian!

It´s much easier when you read in Russian because you have time to think why this or that verb is used, why it is conjugated this way, why it has a particular ending and why it´s conjugated in a particular aspect. But when you speak, you don´t have time to think about all this!

You cannot stop talking to take the time to remember the correct verb form and the correct ending. It has to come naturally, quickly and effortlessly to you!

AND AFTER HELPING HUNDREDS OF STUDENTS MASTER RUSSIAN VERBS,
I FOUND THAT THE BEST AND QUICKEST WAY TO ACHIEVE THIS FLUENCY
IS WITH THE HELP OF THE AUDIO DRILLS.

I’m very glad I jumped into your course. It is very well structured and fits my way of organizing my studying. The drills push me to speak and listen. I’ve recorded some of the drills and found mispronounced words I didn’t realize were wrong. The duration of each drill set is good. I do think the drills have helped to reinforce the differences in the verb forms. Thank you for your help.

Ron Brannon, USA

The Russian Verb Drills is an outstanding tool! It helped me notice the pattern in Russian Verbs declination, and the format, audio coupled with pdf print out, helped to remember the materials better.

Gerald Badet, USA

The course really helped to be able to produce the various verb forms automatically. It was easy to use. I am able to periodically go back and review the more troublesome verbs as need arises. The verbs chosen in the course seem to be the most frequently used verbs which I need for reading, listening, writing and speaking.

Suzanne Zakis, Canada

I am an advanced intermediate Russian learner. I thought the drills would be too basic but I have found them to be INVALUABLE. They have helped enormously, with not only fluency but, in clarifying subtle pronunciation and conjugation confusion ie “а” and “я” 3rd person plural 2nd Type verbs. Thank you Kristina!

WHO IS RUSSIAN VERB DRILLS FOR?

✓  Russian learners who are at the lower intermediate level and above and who need help with memorizing verb forms, their correct pronunciations and, most importantly, with gaining speed when it comes to speaking Russian.

TEACHING YOU GRAMMAR IS NOT THE AIM OF THIS COURSE!

WHO IS RUSSIAN VERB DRILLS NOT FOR?

✖ Complete beginners who know nothing about Russian verbs and their conjugations.

✖ Advanced students who can easily conjugate any Russian verb and remember its correct forms quickly and easily.

HEY, I´M YOUR TEACHER,
KRISTINA MALIDOVSKAYA.

I lead an ever-growing online community where I help people who are learning Russian on their own get amazing results.

Did I mention that I´m a native Russian speaker? ; )

I used to teach Russian as a private tutor, helping hundreds of students every year improve every aspect of their Russian. That was until I realized that I could be helping THOUSANDS of students at the same time with online courses. Since then I´ve been obsessed with teaching Russian online!

One of my favorite things about teaching Russian verbs is hearing from students who´ve completed the course. How now they have clarity about Russian verbs and their conjugations and understand how the Russian verb system works, how it takes them seconds to remember the right verb forms and endings, how they love their clear and correct pronunciation, and in general, enjoy speaking Russian much more.

Remember, you can achieve all this too. The question is: will you?

I don´t think so! I’ve been secretly testing audio drills for the last couple of years with my students and found them to be an extremely helpful tool to master verbs without cramming. This unique system is not well known among other Russian tutors, so it will be extremely difficult to find audio drills like these in any other place online.
